About Us

WomanCraft Gifts is a co-op of local artisans that was founded in 1973.  Our name stems from our beginning. We got started when a handful of local women gathered and organized our shop as a place where they and others could share and sell their work, and create a sense of community centered on hand crafts (see the timeline below). Our store is currently located in Carrboro, North Carolina, in an area known for its rich cultural diversity.

As a co-op, we are owned and operated by the local artists whose work makes up our product selections. We create the products, sell them, manage the business operations and most importantly, share our stories with each other and our customers. Each member and consignor is paid only when their items are sold.

Our co-op currently has 25 member artists working together, and we provide additional space for more than 30 other local artisans. The men and women of WomanCraft lovingly create the perfect gifts with an eye for detail and a flair for the unique. We have whimsical, elegant, and functional gifts for everyone, everything from the newborn to the eldest on your list.

WomanCraft is the destination for North Carolina handcrafted items which are sure to delight everyone. Your purchases will not only be something you or your loved ones will cherish, but they will also help support our artisans who have an abundance of talent and love for their crafts.

If you have a chance to visit us, chat with the artisans on duty in the shop. We are happy to share insights about particular artists and their process of crafting a piece. Personalized gifts and special orders are welcome.
