I was born in Roanoke, Virginia and have lived in Durham, North Carolina for more than 17 years. I have been sewing since I was a Girl Scout (it was the first, and only, badge I earned).
I used to make full sized bed quilts, but I recently discovered techniques for making art quilts using raw edge applique and fusible web. I love to create fabric landscape "paintings" that remind me of my favorite places - Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains and North Carolina's Outer Banks. I use mostly cotton fabrics and cotton batting because they are the easiest to work with.
My Grandma Elsie taught me to crochet when I was about eight. I had always admired crocheted snowflakes on Christmas trees, so I bought a book of patterns and learned the stitches to make them. I enjoy searching for new patterns on the internet and in crochet books. My snowflakes also look nice on a tree - or taped to a windowpane during the winter months.
I joined WomanCraft Gifts in 2020.
