This necklace and earring set is made of a semi-precious stone called Azurite-Malachite, which is a blend of two distinct and popular gems. The deep blues comes from azurite and the variegated green shades from banded malachite.
The name azurite comes from lazhward, a Persian word for “blue,” while malachite originally comes from the Greek word molochitis, meaning “mallow plant.” These two copper-base gemstones are often found in copper mines, or near mines of other copper-based gemstones such as turquoise and chrysocolla. The closure of the necklace is a sterling silver toggle clasp. The earrings are made of the same beads and are on sterling silver ear wires.
The necklace measures approximately 22 inches in length. The earrings measure approximately 1.75 inches in total length, including the ear wire.
