What else might you make from a maranka gourd? It said fancy fish to me, and after adding a palm tree spray for a tail, this makes one handsome fellow. The fins are made of paper and raffia. The piece is entirely hand painted and decorated.
I use only gourds supplied by Mother Nature, so slight imperfections become part of their charm. This one is is approximately 15.5 inches long, stands 7.5 inches high and has a circumference of about 14.5 inches from the tip of the tail to the top fin.
