My lifelong obsession with making and fixing things kicked into high gear when I moved to West Africa in 1991. I found daily inspiration in people “up-cycling” tires into shoes, bottles into houses, cans into toys and so much more! Ever since then, beautiful materials like my emu’s eggs or my mother’s curtains inspire me to transform them into something that others can enjoy. My process involves a lot of trial and error, tweaking and rebuilding, but I am very proud when the finished pieces show off the materials I love in a unique and durable way.
