Sodalite is a semiprecious gemstone first discovered in 1811 in Greenland. It became popular in 1891 when large deposits of fine stone were discovered in Ontario, Canada.

Sodalite is an igneous rock that crystalized from sodium-rich magmas, hence the name. It is usually deep blue with white veining of calcite.

This necklace is 28 inches long, so it may be put on over the head without using the toggle clasp. It is made of sodalite and pewter, with sterling silver wires on the earrings which measure 1.75 inches.

This item is made by Carolyn George. Carolyn's complete collection is available at our Carrboro, North Carolina store. To see more of her items available online, click here.
