Nesting Ball for Birds
A Carolina-grown gourd forms the base of this piece. It is trimmed with moss, reeds, yarns, a variety of fibers and twigs - all for mother birds to use for nest building. Mohair, lambs wool, cotton, etc. is added to provide an array of materials for them to use for this task.
When all materials are gone, just shake out the shell and add new, natural materials for more mothers-to-be. Synthetics can harm the babies, so use natural materials only, please! Suspend it under an overhang to protect it from the elements. Birds will pick what they need and return for more!
This nesting ball is approximately 10 inches in diameter
This item is made by Rosemarie Hunter. Rosemarie's complete collection is available at our Carrboro, North Carolina store. To see more of her items available online, click here.
